When I first moved here I thought Oh oh, that I would be one of those people who loved the ocean, just not being on it. I always had such serious bouts of sea sickness, even in the biggest boats on the most calm of waters. I love the ocean but this was my curse. I first learned of this when I was 19 and attempted a whale-watching expedition. It didn’t go well. Apparently our boat saw whales.
Well the local waters are incredibly tempting and I just had to give it another go…so I did…and had the same result. It too didn’t go well but it seems after two years, many boat rides and several catamarans, I think I’ve finally lifted the curse and gathered myself a tiny pair of sea legs.
Being out on the open water is now exhilarating and amazing for me. The Caribbean‘s liquid layers of turquoise and the clearest of clear waters are just too much to resist.
The smell of the sun, the salt and the sea. The open waters. The sense of freedom is what it’s all about!
