Free Cricket Anyone?

by Marlo Heresco

I’m in need of rescue so I’ve come running here for safe keeping. Actually I’ve come here because I like it here. I like venting to my blog and well, truth be known, I’m really far behind. That may not be entirely true. I feel like I’m really far behind. Being a freelance writer, the last thing I will ever do is complain about having too much work cuz let’s face it, that’s not a usual freelance situation. It’s one that I’m sure I would die to be in again several months from now. My deadlines have not come let alone gone, but they are not far away. I still have a few days yet to blog and piss around as I try to figure out which project to ignore first.

A few weeks ago – or maybe it was months ago already – I was hunting for more work; other work, the same work just with different companies. I looked in places least explored and was successful with several hits. Yeahhh for me, right? Well, I thought so. I still do think so but I’ve since realized that these extra hits have quadrupled my work load. That’s not typically an issue unless you’ve been reading my bellyaching blogs about being housebound for gawd knows how long as I sit here watching other humans go about their normal lives – which has now become my normal life.

I find it necessary to remind myself that to quadruple my income (who’s not in need of a little extra cash?) I need to do quadruple the work – suddenly I’m a little motivated. No pissing around just ass in seat and get ‘er done. Yet here I am blogging aimlessly and deliberating about whether to do something about that damn cricket I’ve just realized is in my house. Ahhhh, who am I kidding? No one can write with a cricket in the house.
